I’m Julie and that’s me over to the right…ya I do clean up. I suppose I write Broad and Reel for several reasons. The first is that I’m proud to be a uh… fisherwoman. I like to show off my awesome fish, especially when I outfish my boyfriend. The second reason for writing this blog is that I just moved to Wilmington, NC from Pittsburgh, PA and unfortunately saltwater fishing is not the same as freshwater fishing. This spring will be the beginning of brand new fishing season and I thought it would be interesting to document my journey, and maybe even learn a thing or two.
In PA, I obviously fished for freshwater fish. We had three big rivers with lots of fish. My real passion when it came to fishing was fly fishing for trout and steelhead. My boyfriend has been fly fishing for 10 years so he’s a pretty good instructor. Once he introduced me, I got into it pretty fast. I have a bright pink fishing vest and my boyfriend bought me a pink Sage VT2 fly rod blank for my college graduation.
Having a boyfriend who is obessed with fishing, I has free range to use most of his equipment…and he has some nice stuff! But this Christmas, he bought my a kayak! I can’t wait to get them in the water this spring. I did a little kayaking back in December, I love small water!
PS I love to fish but I also dig the girly stuff like reality TV and scrapbooking
