I like catching sharks but I don’t enjoy fishing for them. Shark fishing involves too much preparation and too much bulky tackle…and too much waiting:) I’m a fan of active fishing. But this weekend Justin’s buddy let me reel in a shark on his 6/0 (super nice of him) The shark below is a 68" (I’m 62" tall) blacktip…stingray was used as bait.

Wow, very cool pics. I have just one question, if you catch and release, how do you remove the hook and still keep your fingers?

At least you could make it look difficult to reel in a 5 footer. Nice post!!

Ha! I can second that at times - I’d much prefer to be doing something while I fish - but sometimes I do enjoy a good fishin’ trip where I can sit on the bank and chat with friends while watching our poles and call it fishing! Never caught anything longer than I was tall, though! Nice catch!

Did you eat it? Or did you let it go?
Cheers

@ Fish Whisperer - We let him go. Maybe he’ll be six foot next summer!
@Tom - I like the relaxing fishing sometimes too. But I enjoy it more with freshwater fishing…for whatever reason. Camping at a nice fishing lake is always a fun time.
@CB - Yes…those rods are just difficult for me in general…regardless of what’s on the other end. So reeling in the shark and laying the line on the reel evenly was a task in itself.
@Al Baird- Thanks! He was surprisingly cooperative when we brought him in. Sometimes they just don’t chill out… ha ha
@Al - There’s a special hook remover. It looks like a big metal T with a squiggle on the end…that way you don’t have to stick your fingers next to those nasty teeth!
