The 2008 Queens of Kings - King Mackerel Tournament

June 11th, 2008 · No Comments

vintage woman fishing I’m a sucker for anything that’s “ladies only,” you know ladies night at a restaurant or no cover for ladies…but I’m really excited about the announcement of the ladies only king mackerel tournament at Ocean Crest Pier.

The tournament has been cleverly named “The 2008 Queens of Kings” tournament. Here’s some basic info.

Where: Ocean Crest Pier on Oak Island, North Carolina

When: Saturday, September 13 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, September 14, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cost: Entry fee is $50…$40 will go toward the prize pool and I believe $10 will go toward a meal on Sunday. Participants are also required to pay the $13.50 per day king fishing pass unless she has a 2008 season king fishing pass.

How to Sign Up:  Sign ups start on Tuesday, July 1 at 6 a.m. and will continue until all 50 spots are filled. Tournament applications can be pick up at the Ocean Crest Pier house or printed from the Ocean Crest web site under the “Pier Tournaments” forum.

Prizes: Primary prizes for the three biggest fish are based on a 50/30/20 split. Secondary prizes include gift certificates to local restaurants, fishing apparel, tackle and other merchandise.

I’m sure there will be more to say as the tournament gets closer, but if you want more details now, visit Ocean Crest Pier’s web site or give them a call 910-278-6674.

Other than being a potential participant in this tournament, I am in no way involved with the organization of this event, I’m just trying to get the word out about a pretty cool event.
