After several months, the state of North Carolina has awarded the town of Oak Island a $500,000 grant to put toward purchasing the Yaupon Pier.
How exciting?!?!
The town is required to match the $500,000 grant.
Oak Island Mayor Johnie Vereen says the council has to vote before making any offer to the bank.

No problem Al. I hate to see the fishing piers go…they are such an important part to coastal communities but no one realizes that except for the residents. When (hopefully) it does reopen I’ll be sure to do some fishing down there.
